Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa. Although I have a doctorate in psychotherapy, my main passion is advocating for nonhuman animal rights. I condemn all cruelty to nonhuman animals and therefore follow a vegan lifestyle. I would like to connect with other animal activists from all over the world. The fur trade is one of the most abhorrent practices on this planet. Innocent animals are subjected to prolonged suffering for a trivial fashion item. As the chairperson of Fur Free SA. we campaign towards ending the global fur industry. This might not happen in my lifetime, but even if I leave one footprint behind, that is one step closer to the goal. This blog is a forum to discuss all aspects of the fur industry. It also raises issues around animal activism in general. Johannesburg is a crazy city and I need to escape from time to time. This photo was taken next to the magnificent Zambezi river.

Dog fighting is a blood sport‘ where dogs are set against one another in a ring or a pit to entertain sadistic spectators.

Money is made by those who organise this brutal activity. Dogs are often stolen from good homes and then used as bait ~ their fear spurring on the other dog made aggressive by human abuse.

Although dog fighting is illegal in South Africa it is widespread in certain areas. A dog fighting ring was uncovered by the NSPCA (SA) and 18 of the suspected perpetrators are now standing trial.

On Monday morning,17th August, I joined protesters at the court with posters of the actual dogs used in the dog fighting. Sadly these dogs had to be euthanized by the NSPCA.

Please let there be justice with due punishment for these perpetrators.

Thank you for standing up for animals.

Dog fighting is a despicable crime, I hope that justice was done and those responsible punished. Sadly as is often the case the punishment often does not reflect the severity of the crime, if it did maybe the cruelty would come to an end. If it is anything like here in the UK the perpetrators would get little more than a fine and a few months in jail at the most.

You are so right cinnabar and I fear these sub-humans will get off lightly. They totally lack remorse and will just carry on abusing innocent dogs for greed. Given they lack all compassion it is up to the law to punish them and make it known that this behaviour is totally unacceptable.

Of course the case is draaaging out but we will be there until the end, making our voices heard.

      Thank you for caring ❤

Sick evil people, and sick evil ‘sport’. Subhuman savagery and barbarity they deserve nothing but utter contempt and a sentence that isn’t fit for publication! SCUM UTTER SUBHUMAN SCUM!
