Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa. Although I have a doctorate in psychotherapy, my main passion is advocating for nonhuman animal rights. I condemn all cruelty to nonhuman animals and therefore follow a vegan lifestyle. I would like to connect with other animal activists from all over the world. The fur trade is one of the most abhorrent practices on this planet. Innocent animals are subjected to prolonged suffering for a trivial fashion item. As the chairperson of Fur Free SA. we campaign towards ending the global fur industry. This might not happen in my lifetime, but even if I leave one footprint behind, that is one step closer to the goal. This blog is a forum to discuss all aspects of the fur industry. It also raises issues around animal activism in general. Johannesburg is a crazy city and I need to escape from time to time. This photo was taken next to the magnificent Zambezi river.

I think I must also be losing the plot, as I read in the papers recently that the Minister of Environmental Affairs recently stated that rhino would not be traded or sold to game farms, after the huge outcry against the move to translocate them in the blazing heat of summer!

Thanks for the comment, Heather. The approach to the rhino crisis is very confusing for me. My emotional self can’t bear the idea of rhino being “farmed’ for their horns i.e. used as a commodity. These beings need to roam free!
Yet I understand the desperation in trying to stop this scourge. These syndicates are so powerful and the kingpins behind them immoral at every level 😥

I agree with Tanver’s insights above and just want to say that I don’t understand why animals have to suffer this way, regardless of the Ecological Conscience which is spread nowadays…
By the way, the little Rhino is absolutely cute ❤
Best wishes to you, dear Emy, Aquileana 😀

Thank you for caring Aquileana ❤ There is no reason for animals to suffer. Sadly many people are driven by greed and will do anything to make money even if it is immoral.
      Best wishes,
      Emy,
