Emy Will

Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa. Although I have a doctorate in psychotherapy, my main passion is advocating for nonhuman animal rights. I condemn all cruelty to nonhuman animals and therefore follow a vegan lifestyle. I would like to connect with other animal activists from all over the world. The fur trade is one of the most abhorrent practices on this planet. Innocent animals are subjected to prolonged suffering for a trivial fashion item. As the chairperson of Fur Free SA. we campaign towards ending the global fur industry. This might not happen in my lifetime, but even if I leave one footprint behind, that is one step closer to the goal. This blog is a forum to discuss all aspects of the fur industry. It also raises issues around animal activism in general. Johannesburg is a crazy city and I need to escape from time to time. This photo was taken next to the magnificent Zambezi river.

Investec Ltd, South Africa: End your lease with Erich Fischer Furriers and stop making money from the fur trade! FURRIERS LAY A CRIMINAL CHARGE AGAINST EMY. emy in fur

That’s right, the same Emy who would not knowingly hurt any living creature let alone skin a living being for his/her fur!

Erich Fischer Furriers has charged Emy with Malicious Damage to Property for allegedly putting a sticker on his shop window.

As this is a criminal charge the state is being funded by taxpayers money.

Animal activists believe this charge is not about a sticker but rather an attempt to shift the focus away from the despicable fur trade.

 Background information:

  • I, Emy Wilhelm, have consistently presented the facts of fur farming to Mr Fischer of Erich Fischer Furriers and Investec, his landlord.

  • I issued two Promotion of Access to Information (Act, 2000) applications to Mr Fischer requesting he reveals the source of his animal furs. Every consumer has the right to know this.

  • Mr Fischer refused to release this information, saying that his furs have the Origin Assured label.origin assured label

  • Displaying the Origin Assured label is not enough evidence to prove that fur production is compassionate.

  • Investigations have shown that even “assured” farms breed and kill animals in a brutal manner. Fur farming is inherently cruel.

  • Neither Mr Fischer nor Investec have produced evidence to show that fur farming is humane.                                                                                       WHY?

Because there is no such thing as humane fur farming!  fur facts 3wound4fur facts 4

The only thing worse than dying on a fur farm is living on a fur farm!

The trial is on February 2nd, 2015 at the Hillbrow Magistrate Court.

  1. Good luck Emy. Right is on your side and I dearly hope justice prevails.

Thank you so much Stacey ❤
Your words mean a lot to me.
At least this furrier feels threatened enough to take things this far. What he is about to see is that this cause is so much bigger that l'il old me.

  4. Wendy Johnson says:

Thank you for standing up for those unable to speak for themselves..you are a true animal angel

  6. Well, with a little luck this will draw some much needed publicity to the fur trade (and backfire on Erich Fischer Furriers) and with a little more luck the case against you will be dismissed. Here’s wishing you the best. And a hardy bravo to your courage, Emy.

Heartfelt thanks, dear Peter. Is all well? You have been a bit quiet so it is good to hear from you 🙂

This case is drawing a fair amount of attention exactly because it is so minor. Mr Fischer will soon realise this cause is way bigger than me.

  7. You are very brave, Emy. Your voice sounds for all of the animals who are mistreated and killed in order to adorn the bodies of humans. Their fur should be left to adorn the animals where it belongs. I wish you good luck on next Monday. You are in the right. What is a sticker, anyway? If their claim is negligent, let’s hope the scales of justice points in your way. What a waste of taxpayers’ money, too. So, what else is new?

Thank you for those encouraging words, Sunshinebright 😀
What I am going through is nothing compared to what animals suffer on fur farms and that motivates me and others to fight for them.

I hope you get a good result Emy.

I really am so shocked, this is unbelievable!!!! this is ludicrus in the extreme! I had to read it a couple of times as it seemed so incredulous. How can this be happening? The real criminals are those who murder, torture and kill helpless animals in the name of greed, for the sake of silly fashion for the fickle minded. What a worry for you. This should not be happening, when you do so much to help stand up for defenceless animals . I hope all goes in your favour on Monday as it should. Time to put the real criminals on trail. Thank you for standing up for animals.

    • Emy Will says:

You are so right, cinnabar. This is ludicrous in the extreme. The fact that the state is pursuing it is even more ridiculous.
Thank you for your encouraging words.
      Best wishes,
      Emy xxxxx

  11. Noleen Loubser says:

I love fur. It is beautiful. On my cats where it BELONGS.

While I have dealt with rape cases that never made it to court, I see my friend being made into a criminal for caring.

I guess it must have been quite some sticker! I’ve never known a broken window to get this much attention.

Emy, my thoughts are with you on Monday, and the duration of the seven-day trial. Please give your furkidz an extra scritch from me.

    • Emy Will says:

Thank you so much for those kind words, dear Noleen. We have been friends for about 30 years now and you have always stood by me through the tough times. That means a lot to me ❤ .

This case is attracting so much attention because it is so MINOR. People are outraged that the police have given it so much attention, at the taxpayers expense.

      Take care,
      Emy xxx

  12. Wendy Johnsn says:

    Hi Emy

All the very best for tomorrow, I am actually just shaking my head that the court’s time is being taken up with such a trivial matter, meanwhile rapists and murders are walking around our streets, the tax payers money is being wasted and you as a peace loving, law abiding person are the target.

But in life it is always those that dare to speak up against injustice that find themselves being persecuted.

Sending you positive thoughts, peace and light and loads of vegan love.
