Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa. Although I have a doctorate in psychotherapy, my main passion is advocating for nonhuman animal rights. I condemn all cruelty to nonhuman animals and therefore follow a vegan lifestyle. I would like to connect with other animal activists from all over the world. The fur trade is one of the most abhorrent practices on this planet. Innocent animals are subjected to prolonged suffering for a trivial fashion item. As the chairperson of Fur Free SA. we campaign towards ending the global fur industry. This might not happen in my lifetime, but even if I leave one footprint behind, that is one step closer to the goal. This blog is a forum to discuss all aspects of the fur industry. It also raises issues around animal activism in general. Johannesburg is a crazy city and I need to escape from time to time. This photo was taken next to the magnificent Zambezi river.

Nicki Minaj is an American rapper who attended New York’s February Fashion Week, 2015.

She was wearing a coat made up of around fifteen foxes.

Nicki Minaj Wearing real fur has become an alarming trend among the hip-hop culture.

Sadly these rappers have a huge following who don’t seem to care about cruelty to nonhuman animals.

That’s just crazy, around fifteen foxes? I just can’t understand why people would use something like that.

      Thanks for the comment, odafagerland.
Only deeply egotistical people support the fur industry. Sadly these foxes are bred in horrendous conditions and skinned only for their fur. Their bodies are then just dumped. Totally immoral!!!

It`s time the graffiti comes back to spray it on their coats..like in the 70`s! How dare they scream about slavery if they wear so much cruelty!!!

Not even sure why there is such a large connection between being rich and having that so called need to wear fur of all things!

  7. It’s so disgusting I can’t even stand it. We used to picket furriers, etc., Just horrific.

A belated reply to this but I happen to think that the promotion of cheap faux fur has turned real fur into a status symbol of affluence, particularly for those who are not of wealthy origins but want to show off newly acquired wealth.

Belated response 🙂 I don’t understand why people like the caveperson look at all. In any case, who decides what is a status symbol? The fur industry of course. It was the same with diamonds when mining houses advertised “diamonds as a girl’s best friend”. Such BS. Only furry beings are a girl’s best friend and they are priceless.

In Nicki Minaj’s case, wearing fur could all be part of her persona of being a ‘bad bitch’, which is what she has built her career upon.
