Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa. Although I have a doctorate in psychotherapy, my main passion is advocating for nonhuman animal rights. I condemn all cruelty to nonhuman animals and therefore follow a vegan lifestyle. I would like to connect with other animal activists from all over the world. The fur trade is one of the most abhorrent practices on this planet. Innocent animals are subjected to prolonged suffering for a trivial fashion item. As the chairperson of Fur Free SA. we campaign towards ending the global fur industry. This might not happen in my lifetime, but even if I leave one footprint behind, that is one step closer to the goal. This blog is a forum to discuss all aspects of the fur industry. It also raises issues around animal activism in general. Johannesburg is a crazy city and I need to escape from time to time. This photo was taken next to the magnificent Zambezi river.

Every year millions of dogs and cats are skinned for their fur, sometimes while still alive. People who can do this have no heart or soul!

Yet there are others who will put their heart and soul into saving our furry friends.

Take the story of Cassidy for example:

Cassidy was born with damaged back legs.

Shelly Roche from Tiny Kittens Society (UK) – an organisation that cares for abandoned cats – found Cassidy in a terrible condition. He was starved and had an infection in both back leg stumps. Shelly went all out to save Cassidy and helped him to walk. After a plea on social media, Cassidy received his very own wheelchair enabling him to walk without assistance.

Of course Cassidy’s will to live paid a big part in his recovery, as well. Check out his progress in video below:

What a wonderful story, a brave little kitten and people who care about animals. Thanks for sharing this. It’s good to know that there are people who care about the other animals with whom we share this world. I have said this on many occasions but it can seem as though the world is an uncaring place, so it’s good to hear that there are still compassionate people who make every effort to help an animal such as this poor little kitten who would otherwise not have survived.
