Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa. Although I have a doctorate in psychotherapy, my main passion is advocating for nonhuman animal rights. I condemn all cruelty to nonhuman animals and therefore follow a vegan lifestyle. I would like to connect with other animal activists from all over the world. The fur trade is one of the most abhorrent practices on this planet. Innocent animals are subjected to prolonged suffering for a trivial fashion item. As the chairperson of Fur Free SA. we campaign towards ending the global fur industry. This might not happen in my lifetime, but even if I leave one footprint behind, that is one step closer to the goal. This blog is a forum to discuss all aspects of the fur industry. It also raises issues around animal activism in general. Johannesburg is a crazy city and I need to escape from time to time. This photo was taken next to the magnificent Zambezi river.

According to Berk Çektir, a Turkish lawyer, animals are mistreated in Turkey every day.

Berk Çektir explains, They are beaten, tortured, killed, raped, abandoned and whatever other evil thing you can or cannot imagine is done to animals”.

This can happen because at present, “there is no legislation in Turkey that protects the rights of animals”.

However, there is currently a draft bill before Parliament which aims to better protect animals against the cruelty of humans.

If this bill is passed it would mean that there will be a chance that anyone committing cruel acts against animals will be charged and given a prison sentence and/or fined.

In the light of the above, it warmed my heart to read about these compassionate people in Turkey.Cats in TurkeyDedicated to all nonhuman animals who live and die for human greed!

My faith in humanity is restored by reading this!! Wherever there are people and animals, there should be laws that protect both–not rocket science just common sense!!

Thank you Stacey Ann. What a wonderful world it would be if animals did not need protection from cruel humans. It is so sad what people are capable of doing to helpless beings. But of course there will always be cruel humans that vulnerable creatures need to be protected from and every action of compassion counts. All the best xxxx

This is good news! It is difficult to image what it must be like for animals in a country that has no laws to protect them from cruelty. It’s so good to see that there are some people who care about animals, it is so easy to think that few people care or do anything to help and protect animals from cruelty.

  4. Thank you for sharing this. It’s shocking to learn of the horrific acts animals are subjected to. Keep fighting the good fight.
