Brown bear 21-year-old Ewkas and her 13 year old daughter Gienia lived in a mini-zoo in Braniewo in northern Poland. For years they were kept in confined conditions on a concrete floor with inadequate medical care. Thanks to FOUR PAWS, in a six-hour long journey, the bears were moved to their large new enclosure in Poznan Zoo.
You might be thinking so what, this is just another zoo.
Sadly these bears probably would not cope in the wild after so many years of confinement.
However, the quality of their lives has dramatically improved, as the two bears now live in a spacious outdoor area of nearly 4,000 m² in size. This enclosure was built to strict animal welfare criteria and financed with the help of FOUR PAWS.
As you can see on their faces, they are delighted with their new life!
Bears are extensively hunted for their fur in Canada and Russia 😦
Dedicated to all nonhuman animals who are killed for human greed!
