Anti fur petition @
Ever wondered about the fur costumes in movies?
Well, according to the Costume Designers Guild, “Given a choice, many costume designers prefer to use real fur!”
This is certainly the case with the popular TV series the Game of Thrones. Please sign this petition requesting the producers to go cruelty free.
For some time, anti-fur campaigners have requested the French brand label, The Kooples, to stop selling genuine fur.
The Kooples has now made the ethical choice and gone fur free.
The Kooples’ managing director, Nicolas Dreyfus, stated, “We are extremely concerned by animal suffering and … we’ve made the decision to stop the use of all fur in any future collections”.

Fur trim is no longer made up of cast-offs from larger pelts, but instead has become a booming industry in its own right. Fur trim is found on jackets, shoes, scarves, trinkets, toys, hair bands, jewelry and sometimes even on full fur coats. However, despite what people in the fur industry claim, there is NO such thing as “humane” fur. Regardless of the size of the piece of fur, a living creature suffered immense pain only to be skinned for useless fur items.
Please don’t support the brutal fur market in any way
Whenever an animal gets rescued from a fur farm it feels bitter-sweet to me.
It is a reminder of the millions of animals who live and die under horrific conditions just to be skinned for their fur.
Ferdinand, is one lucky fox who was spared this fate. On 17th August, because of his poor physical condition, he was removed from a fur farm in Chodzież, Poland.
According to Paweł Rawicki from the organisation Otwarte Klatki, Ferdinand “will not be killed and skinned this autumn, like the rest of the foxes and raccoon dogs on fur farms”.
Instead he will “become another ambassador of our anti-fur campaign, Fur Price”.
Ferdinand now lives in a zoo, “safe and sound, he can walk freely on a soft ground, stretch his body, eat good food and enjoy his fox life for the next couple of years”.

September 1st marks the beginning of spring in South Africa. Our senses are now fed by a burst of colour and scent.
Sadly, the abuse of other species is not seasonal.
We are approaching the time of the year when animals are “harvested” for their fur i.e. killed and skinned.
So even if fur garments are out of sight, please never let the suffering of fur animals be out of mind.
